If you have a growth mindset, it means you are someone who possess a deeply felt belief that you (if you’re a business owner) and your organization can grow bigger and better and nothing can prevent it from happening.
If you’re curious as to how people create and grow a mindset strategy, here are some practical tips that will show you exactly how to get started.
1.Acknowledge and embrace your flaws.
Hiding from your weaknesses means you’ll never overcome them.
2. View tests and trials as opportunities to learn and grow.
Having a growth mindset means relishing opportunities for self-improvement. Learn more about how to fail well. Forgive yourself, then pick yourself up and go again.
3. Try a variety of learning tactics.
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to learning. Everyone is unique, so what works for one person may not work for you. Experiment and excel.
4. Replace “failing” inside your mind with the word “learning.”
When you make a mistake or fall short of a goal, you haven’t failed; you are learning.
5. Don’t seek approval.
When you prioritize approval over learning, you are trading away your potential for growth. Value yourself.
6. The process has more value than the end result.
Intelligent people enjoy the learning process, and do not mind when expectations take longer than expected to materialize.
7. Celebrate your growth and accomplishments with others.
If you truly appreciate the growth and progress you are making, you’ll want to share it with others.
8. Emphasize growth over speed.
Learning quickly isn’t the same as learning well, and learning well sometimes requires the allowance of time for mistakes along the way.
9. Reassess and redefine “genius.”
The myth’s been busted: genius requires lots of hard work, and not just bare talent alone.
10. Present criticism as a positive experience.
You don’t have to use the term, “constructive criticism” but you absolutely should believe that’s it true, and helpful at times.
11. Disassociate improvement from failure.
Stop assuming the words: “room for improvement” means you failed. It doesn’t.
12. Place effort before talent.
Hard work should always be rewarded before inherent skill.
13. Highlight the relationship between learning and “brain training.”
The brain is like a muscle that needs to be worked out, just like the body.
14. Cultivate an attitude of perseverance
People with that extra bit of determination will be more likely to seek approval from themselves, rather than others.
15. Take ownership over your attitude.
Once you develop a growth mindset, own it and be proud of it. Acknowledge yourself as someone who possesses a growth mentality and be delighted to let it guide you throughout your educational career.
